The following are actions items that I would like you to complete once you have decided that you want to quit weed. I highly recommend you complete these action items. In fact, I’m making them mandatory. Also, please do not type your answers, or think of the answers in your head. Use a piece of paper and a pen to write down your answers to these questions. After you’re done, stick the answers somewhere where you can reread them everyday.
Acceptance/Analysis of the problem:
- Actionable Item: write a cost-benefit analysis of weed in your life. On one side of a piece of paper, write down all of the good things that weed has brought to your life. On the other side, write all of the things you’ve sacrificed because of your weed addiction. List everything you can think of, big or small
Data Collection:
- Actionable Item: For the next few days, right before you smoke, write down what happened before you decided to smoke (maybe a stressful event, maybe you were bored, etc.). Also spend 20-30 minutes each day chipping away at the question of why you smoke weed and what it does for you
Preparation
- Actionable Item: You need to get rid of everything you own related to weed (bongs, lighters, joints, ash trays, EVERYTHING). You also need to delete your dealers #, and maybe even tell the local stores in your area that you’re trying to quit
- Actionable Item: You will use the data gathered in the data collection step to help you generate a plan of action for quitting. Write down what you will do for the following situations:
- What you will do if you encounter a trigger
- What you will do when you experience intense cravings (I recommend healthy sabotaging of your plans - refer to video step 4)
- What you are going to spend your free time doing
